Message from the Principal and Learning Director
Hello Lee Richmond Panthers!  Welcome back to school!  I am so excited about the upcoming school year and all of our achievements that lie ahead.  The halls have been so quiet here without the students as we have been busy preparing for their arrival.  Lee Richmond is such a wonderful and loving place where the joy of learning is apparent in all of our classrooms.  All of the teachers and office staff are eager to get the year started.  I welcome you and your students to school and hope that you have wonderful school experiences this year.  We thank you for being such an integral part of your child’s education.  Your time and dedication do not go unnoticed!  Welcome back!
Sincerely, Mrs. Gomez and Mrs. Baldwin

STAR Test Results

Oprime el botón para la traducción en español.

Dear Parents:

In July you will be receiving a report and an explanation of your child’s test results for the California Standardized Testing and Report (STAR) program, administered during May 2011.  For the thirteenth year, the STAR program included the California Standards Tests (CST) designed specifically to measure California’s content standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.  In addition to the CST, students in grade 5 were assessed in Science Standards and students in grade 8 were assessed in Science and History Social Science Standards.  Student results for the California Standards Tests are reported as Performance Levels: Advanced, Proficient, Basic, Below Basic, and Far Below Basic.

The California Modified Assessment (CMA) was administered to students in grades 3-8, who have disabilities, and whose individualized education plan (IEP) indicated they would be assessed in ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.  Student results for the CMA are reported as performance levels, as stated above.

The Standards-based Test in Spanish (STS) was administered to students in grades 2-8, who are Spanish-speaking English learners who receive instruction in Spanish, or Spanish-speaking English learners who have been enrolled in a school in the United States for less than 12 months.

Annual STAR testing is just one of the ways that Hanford Elementary School District measures student progress.  In addition to STAR testing, students in all grades have regular reading, writing, and mathematics assessments that document their progress toward English Language Arts and Mathematics Standards.

Hanford Elementary School District is dedicated to the belief that all students can and will meet California State Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  We continue to focus all of our resources on improving student achievement.  Please plan to work closely with your child’s teacher to insure that our instructional program is meeting his/her academic needs.  It’s very important that we work together so that your child can continue to grow.

If you have questions about your child’s STAR reports, please feel free to contact your child’s school.
